Prasar Bharati to set up 630 DTT with Rs 3,200 cr to digitize DD channels

Hyderabad, Jan 16 (UNI) Public Broadcaster, Prasar Bharati will set up 630 Digital Terrestrial Transmissions (DTT) across the country with an investment of Rs 3,200 crore to digitize DD channels.
It is a long term plan and we had already invested Rs 20-25 crore in the first phase by setting up of transmissions in 16 cities across the country, Prasar Bharati Director General, Ms Supriya Shahu told reporters on the sidelines of the first edition of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) International Television Dance Festival held here last night.
She said that setting up of each transmission would be around Rs 1 crore. 44 locations will be digitalized by 2018 and three locations in Hyderabad, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram by end of March in the current fiscal, Ms Supriya said, adding that one transmission tower being set up in Hyderabad was in final stage.
