Pranab  launches Namma Metro Phase I

Bengaluru, Jun 17 (UNI) President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated 'Namma Metro' Phase I on the Green Line between Mantri Squre and Yelachenahalli at Vidhana Soudha here today. Speaking after the inauguration, the President said that the Bengaluru had a tradition and people were cultured and the growing metropolis needed a fast transport system like 'Namma Metro'. "Today it has became a reality. I am very happy for the denezins of Bengaluru who are known for their hospitality, decency and metopolitan personality." He said that the people of the city deserved better living condition as they are hard working and are contributing to the country's economy. The Metro service will help them in taking their services to the better highs. The 42.2 km stretch connects people with faster Rail transport across the city and the project was completed at a cost of Rs 13,500 crore. After the launch of Green Line, the first phase of Namma Metro which consists of the Green and the Purple lines, will finally be completed. The Purple Line connecting Byappanahalli in the west and Mysore Road in the east became functional in April 2016. The Green Line of the Metro connects Nagasandra in the North up to Yelachenahalli station in the south. The Metro is expected to serve at least five lakh commuters from tomorrow. The trains will ply on a frequency of six minutes while it willbe reduced to four minutes during peak hours. UNI RS MSP CS 1939

Pune, April 25 (UNI) Day temperatures were markedly above normal(5.1°C or more) at many places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim; at isolated places over Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal and Assam and Meghalaya; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Jharkhand; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Kerala and Mahe; at isolated places over east Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Telangana. These were below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at isolated places over Vidarbha and east Madhya Pradesh and near normal over rest parts of the country. Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 43.7°C was reported at Anantapur
(Rayalaseema) over the country.
