Pragya Singh Thakur says sorry, again

Bhopal, May 20 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Bhopal parliamentary constituency candidate Pragya Singh Thakur averred on Monday that if any nationalist is aggrieved by her words then she seeks forgiveness.
“Subsequent to the electoral processes, it is time for contemplation. As an act of atonement I shall observe silence for a period of 21 ‘prahars’ and am commencing severe penance,” she conveyed via social media.

Ms Thakur recently drew universal condemnation after she termed Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Vinayak Godse a patriot. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he would never be able to forgive Ms Thakur from the heart.

Earlier Ms Thakur issued one controversial statement regarding Ashoka Chakra-recipient Indian Police Service officer Hemant Karkare – who attained martyrdom while combatting the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks – and another in the context of demolition of the disputed structure in Ayodhya. The Election Commission of India imposed a 72-hour-long campaign ban on the nominee.
