Powergrid sets Capex target of 25,000 cr for FY 19

New Delhi, May 4 (UNI) State-run Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Powergrid) on Friday inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Power to set Rs 25,000 crore as its capital expenditure (capex) target for the current fiscal.
“The memorandum of understanding (MoU) includes various targets to be achieved by Powergrid during 2018-19. Capex target for the year has been set as Rs.25,000 crore,” a Power Grid statement said.
“Other targets in the MoU inter-alia include parameters related to human resources, project management, research & development, innovation and other efficiency and operational performance parameters,” it added.
The MoU was signed by Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Secretary, Ministry of Power and I S Jha, Chairman and Managing Director.
The MoU includes various targets to be achieved by Powergrid during FY 2018-19. Other targets in the MoU inter-alia include parameters related to human resources, project management, R&D and innovation and other efficiency and operational performance parameters.
The MoU was signed by Power Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla, and Powergrid CMD I.S. Jha in the presence of senior officials from Ministry and Powergrid.
Powergrid, a Navratna CPSE and the Central Transmission Utility (CTU) of the country, has been consistently receiving highest rating since signing of the first MoU in 1993-94.
As on March 31, 2018, the company owns and operates over 148,800 circuit km. of transmission lines, 236 EHV sub-stations with transformation capacity of more than 322,000 MVA.
