Mumbai, Mar 31 (UNI) The second edition of the most coveted fashion extravaganza of the season; Bombay Times Fashion Week, kicked off on Friday.

The exuberant fashion fiesta set the tone of the three day-long event with powerful, inspirational and bold designers showcasing their line of work with one homogenous message Power is Women.

Taking it up a notch, renowned activist and fashion designer, Shaina NC, showcased her power women themed collection, which was adorned by women from different walks of life, including industrialists, change makers, achievers, who sashayed down the ramp wearing Shania NC’s

classic, bold colored lehangas and draped saris.

Vijaya Sharma, Naomi Shah and showstopper Pooja Chopra enthralled the audience with their commanding walk on ramp.

The suave Ada Malik’s collection was a sight to behold as chic models swiftly swayed on the ramp wearing her easy flowing, satin collection.

Father, Anu Malik owned the ramp with his audacious and suave look as the showstopper. Shibani Dandekar, Neetu Chandra, Nusrat Baraucha, dazzled the ramp for Shahin Mannan, Tasneem Merchant, and Shivani Jain’s, summer bloom centric collection, respectively.

From gold, blue and black to ruffles, pleats and embroidery, soft pastels, and dreamy made for an eclectic mix of elements during Day one of the fashion event.

Nushrat Baraucha after her stunning walk on ramp confessed, 'The weirdest fashion trend that I ever followed was sport ‘high bouffant hair’ which turned out to be the most hideous decision I had ever made and I would advice everyone to never ever try it.'

Neetu Chandra admitted she had a bad habit. She said, 'I have a sweet tooth which is the worst thing and I would want to quit it. Keeping in mind the theme of the show, glamor with purpose, Neetu Chandra also voiced her opinion as she said I am here to promote Indian textile and handloom, sustainability, and social equality for the weavers in India.'

Raising the oomph factor on the ramp and in all white was Malaika Arora Khan when she dazzled the audience wearing Mandira Wirk’s creation. Bringing back the 70’s 80’s disco, glittery theme was the closing show of the evening by Nandita Mahtani. The stage was lit up with gold and shimmering sequins as the elegant models strode the ramp. The showstopper, Sonakshi Sinha, staying true to her nick-name lit up the whole room with her charm and her patent ‘asli sona’ smile.

Suzzane Khan, Dino Morea, Tanisha Mukherjee, Kim Sharma, Harshwardhan Rane, Aahana Pandey, Upen Patel, Mansi Scott, Narayani Shastri, Arunoday Singh, Aditi Govitkari, Tushhar Kapoor, Madhu Shah, were among the many glitterati that attended the first day of the Bombay

Times Fashion Week.
