Posing as Delhi police officers, scammers digitally arrest inspector's brother, cheat him of Rs 1 Lakh

Lucknow, Sep 13 (UNI) In a shocking case of cyber fraud, scammers posing as Delhi police officials digitally arrested a man in Lucknow for nearly four hours and duped him of Rs 1 lakh by falsely implicating him in 60 criminal cases.

The victim, Vinay Kumar Gupta, a resident of Krishnapalli in the Krishnanagar area of Lucknow, is the brother of a BSF Inspector, Vijay Kumar. According to Vinay, the incident began around 9 am on August 25, when he received a WhatsApp call from an unknown number. The caller identified himself as Suresh Kumar, claiming to be an employee of the Telecom Department. He warned that Vinay’s SIM card would be deactivated within two hours due to its alleged involvement in criminal activities in Delhi.
