Popularise and promote Football across states and UTs: Sports Ministry

New Delhi, May 27 (UNI) The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports today urged states and union territories to take necessary steps to popularise and promote Football in their respective area in order to make the FIFA U-17 World Cup a huge success.
The Ministry in its letter to all chief secretaries of states and union territories, the Secretary, Department of Sports Rajiv Yadav has said FIFA U-17 World Cup is going to be held in India in October, 2017 and referring to 'Mann Ki Baat' programme on March 27, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for building an atmosphere and fervor of Football in the country as a run up to the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
"Mr Modi wants Football to be played in every nook and corner of the country," a statement said.
