New Delhi, Apr 16 (UNI) The world's largest vaccine manufacturer, Serum Institute India's CEO Adar Poonawalla on Friday requested US President Joe Biden to lift embargo on export of raw materials that are used to manufacture the COVID vaccine.
"Respected @POTUS, if we are to truly unite in beating this virus, on behalf of the vaccine industry outside the US, I humbly request you to lift the embargo of raw material exports out of the US so that vaccine production can ramp up. Your administration has the details," Mr Poonawalla tweeted.
India is currently undergoing a second deadly wave of coronavirus and the daily caseload in the country has doubled in the last 10 days, prompting a greater need of vaccine.
According to Union Health Ministry, cumulatively, 11,72,23,509 vaccine doses have been administered till now.
