Mumbai, Feb 28 (UNI) Shiv Sena minister Sanjay Rathod here on Sunday said he has tendered his resignation to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
The forest disaster management minister has been at the receiving end from the Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party, who had accused him in abetment to suicide case of 23-year-old Pune woman, Pooja Chavan.
Chavan, a student and Tik Tok star, is suspected to have died after jumping from the first floor of Heaven Park building in Mohammadwadi area in Pune in the early hours of February 7.
Mr Rathod, after meeting Mr Thackeray at his residence Varsha in the afternoon, told mediapersons here,"I have submitted my resignation to chief minister Uddhav Thackeray."
The legislator from Digras (Yavatmal) constituency alleged that the opposition had politicised the issue and wanted to disrupt the investigations.
"Till the inquiry is conducted, I have stepped down.......I want a fair inquiry to be conducted and the truth to come out," he said.
However, as per sources, several Shiv Sena leaders have requested the chief minister not to accept the minister's resignation.
So far, there has been no official declaration either from Mr Thackeray or the Sena about the resignation.
