Pondy LG approves reopening of schools

Puducherry, Oct 28(UNI) Puducherry Lt.Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Thursday approved the proposal of the Education Department regarding reopening of schools for Classes 1 to 8th from November 8 onwards in Puducherry, Karaikal and Yanam regions of the U.T. of Puducherry.

According to a Raj Nivas release tonight, the proposal of the Chief Minister to supply 10 Kgs. of free rice and 2 Kgs. of sugar to all the ration cardholders of the U.T. of Puducherry through ration shops has been approved by the Lt. Governor, as a one-time measure on the occasion of Deepawali festival. She also accorded sanction for the release of central share of Rs.16.86 lakhs to Adi Dravidar Welfare and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department for execution of the project to construct 83 houses in Karaikal region(Phase IV) under Beneficiary Led Construction component of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for SC/ST category of people.
