Puducherry, Oct 29 (UNI) Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Thursday greeted the people, particularly Muslims in the union territory, on the occasion of “Milad-un-Nabi” on Friday.
In his greeting, the Chief Minister exhorted the people to unitedly strive for the welfare of mankind with kind, compassion and tolerance.
Recalling the sacrifices of Muslims to protect the unity and integrity of the country, Mr Narayanasamy said some forces are now trying to split the people in the name of caste and creed and to create communal violence in Puducherry.
These forces will never succeed, he said.
He said the government is a “protector” of the minority community and added that when there was a trouble to the minorities through the National Population Register (NPR), it was opposed and thwarted here.
Mr Narayanasamy also said when the Central government stopped the financial assistance for Haj pilgrimage, the Congress-DMK government provided it from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
