Poll pot: Shillong Times ex-editor Manash Chaudhary to join BJP in Meghalaya

Shillong/New Delhi, May 27 (UNI) Manash Chaudhury, former editor of the largest-circulated daily Shillong Times and a two-time Independent legislator, today confirmed that he will join the Bharatiya Janata Party in poll-bound Meghalaya.
Top sources in BJP in Delhi also affirmed that the journalist-turned-politician will join the BJP on May 31 in Shillong, ahead of the hustings in the state, due next year.
Mr Chaudhury said he had been in touch with the BJP leadership.
A Padma Shri awardee, Mr Chaudhury has served from 1978-2008 as an editor of The Shillong Times. He was the representative from Mawprem constituency twice and was also elevated as a cabinet minister of the state.
