Police stop Radhakrishnan's car at Pamba

Police stop Radhakrishnan's car at Pamba

Sabarimala, Nov 22 (UNI) In yet another bitter experience to Union Minister of state for Finance and Shipping Pon Radhakrishnan, his official car was stopped and inspected by a Kerala Police team near Triveni Bridge at Pamba in the wee hours of Thursday.
The police stopped the Minister's car deliberately and collected the details of the people travelling in it, causing a delay of more than half an hour, BJP Kerala General Secretary AN Radhakrishnan said.
The incident occurred at 0100 hrs when the Minister reached Pamba after offering prayers at Lord Ayyappa temple on Wednesday night.
A police team led by a circle inspector stopped the car and collected the names of others accompanied with the Minister, he said.
Though the police claim that the inspection was unknowingly, Superintendent of Police Harishanker came to the spot soon and submitted a written apology to the Minister.
However, the BJP leaders said the police only brought the car from Nilakkal to Pamba for the Minister's return journey.
The Minister, who reached the temple yesterday, also participated in a Namajapa Yajnam (chanting of Ayyapa mantras) with the devotees in protest against various restrictions imposed on them by the police.
The Minister on November 21 left his official car at Nilakkal and came to Pamba by a state-owned KSRTC bus protesting against the denial of private vehicles to devotees coming to Pamba.
The Minister also engaged into a war of words with SP Yathish Chandra for denying the rights of pilgrims.
Meanwhile, in many places bordering Tamil Nadu, BJP activists staged protest marches and burnt the effigies of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan alleging the Union Minister was insulted by Kerala Police.
