Anantnag, Jan 23 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police has sought cooperation from general public for conducting the Republic Day (RD) peacefully in south Kashmir, where security forces have put up 'nakas' and taken measures to foil any militant attempt to cause disturbance.
However, militants on Monday hurled a hand grenade towards security force patrol at Khrew in Pulwama in south Kashmir, where the militant activities witnessed a surge last year when about more than 60 militants, including top commanders, were killed in different encounters.
A police spokesman issued an advisory for RD functions in the south Kashmir valley. “ General Public is requested to cooperate with police at naka and frisking points”.
