Police resorted to lathi charge after water cannon failed to disperse the BJP activists on KMC chalo abhiyan

Kolkata, Nov 13 Nov (UNI) Police today charged water cannon and used batons to ward off hundreds of BJP activists at the Central Avenue, who were proceeding towards the Kolkata Municipal Corporation's headquarters at SN Banerjee Road to protest the government alleged failure to
contain dreaded Dengue in the city.
Many activists were also injured in the lathi charge. Police also arrested some leaders, including women on charges of braking barricade erected by the police.
As the procession was heading towards the KMC office, police had erected barricades near E-Mall at Chadney. As some activists tried to cross over the barricade police fired water cannon and resorted to lathi charge to disperse the unruly activists.
