Police registers FIR for circulating fake letter

New Delhi, Jun 19 (UNI) Delhi Police tonight registered a FIR against unknown persons for circulating a fake letter on social media.
According to a police official, "South Avenue police station has registered a case under section 469,471, 465, 466 and 505 of Indian Penal Code on the complaint of an under secretary of Cabinet Secretariat against unknown persons for circulating a fake letter on social media."
The under secretary, in his complaint mentioned, "today morning when I reached office, I started receiving phone calls seeking clarification on the orders dated June 15, issued by the Cabinet Secretariat in the matter of digitisation of land records and subsequent liknking to Aadhaar. I was being told the news was being circulated on social media (WhatsApp)."
"The letter was neither issued by the office of Cabinet Secretariat and nor it was signed. The signature and letter itself were forged," the official stated.
Earlier in the day, Frank Noronha, Principal Director General of Press Information Bureau in a tweet said, "The letter related to Cabinet Secretariat on Aadhar linking to land lords, is completely fake and mischievous."
