Police register case against youth under POCSO Act for sexually assaulting girl

Puducherry, May 16 (UNI) Bahour police registered a case under Protection of Children from Sexual offences (POCSO) Act against a 26-year-old youth for allegedly sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl on Wednesday.

According to police, Vinod, an electricity department employee went to the house of the girl to take meter reading. Knowing that the girl is alone in the house, he sought some water to drink. When she went inside to take water, he followed her and locked the door.
When the girl screamed, he assaulted her and threatened to kill her. Later he sexually assaulted the girl and left the house.

The girl informed her parents and relatives of the incident, following which they lodged a complaint with the Bahour police.

Vinod is said to be absconding and police are on the look out for him.
