Police outpost built from stones used in Sambhal violence inaugurated

Sambhal (UP), Dec 12 (UNI) A new police outpost named Deepa Sarai was inaugurated in Sambhal, built symbolically using the bricks and stones that rioters had thrown at police personnel during the November 24, 2024, violence.
The outpost was formally opened on Friday with a traditional havan. Circle Officer Kuldeep Kumar acted as the 'yajman', while two priests conducted the ritual. The building was decorated with balloons.

Police lathi-charge devotees during 'prabhat pheri' in UP's Budaun, many injured

Budaun (UP), Jan 16 (UNI) Tension gripped Gram Byor of the Islamnagar police station area in Budaun district after police stopped a Prabhat Pheri (morning procession) being taken out during the Hindu calendar month of Magh, calling the route “disputed.”
The devotees on Friday claimed that Prabhat Pheri had been taken out through the same route for the past 50 years. The situation escalated, forcing the police to resort to a lathi-charge, in which several villagers were reportedly injured and admitted to the Community Health Centre for treatment.
