Police officer arrested on graft charge

Patna, Jul 18 (UNI) Vigilance sleuths caught a police officer red-handed when he was accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complaint in Muzaffarpur district today.
Sources at the vigilance department said that a trap was laid on police sub-inspector Shambhu Kumar under the leadership of a DSP rank officer Gopal Paswan when one Shankar Sahni lodged a written complaint against him at the department. Mr Sahni, a resident of Balughat locality informed the vigilance department that the police officer, posted at Sikandarpur police outpost was demanding a bribe of Rs 15000 instead of taking action against the accused of a case.
Sources said the police officer was arrested when he was accepting the bribe at the police outpost. The nabbed police officer was being brought to vigilance office in Muzaffarpur for his interrogation and subsequent production in special vigilance court.
