Police issues alert in Israel-dominated regions of HP

Shimla, Dec 4 (UNI) On the input received from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Himachal
Pradesh Police tightened security around the Israel-dominated areas of Kullu and Kangra districts in this hill state on Monday.

A state police officer confirmed that the alert has been generated.

''During the interrogation of one Laskar agent Shaikh Abdul Naeem (37) by NIA, it was revealed that he had made recce of Kasol area of Kullu district. Therefore, the state police have generated an alert to the concerned police chief,'' the source informed.
The suspect, reportedly an operative of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was arrested on December 2 from Pratapgarh of Uttar Pradesh by a joint team of NIA and the UP ATS.

Dharmkot of Kangra district, also known as mini-Israel and McLeod Ganj of Dharmshala, are other dominated areas of Israel Jewish ethnic community in the state. The state police was keeping vigil in such areas, where Foreigners and Israelis live in a large number.

Just a year ago, Kullu Police and the NIA had arrested an ISIS sympathiser, who was living in a church at Banjar area of Kullu district. The accused was identified as Abid Khan, resident of Bengaluru, who was living here for the past five months, posing as a missionary under the assumed name of Paul C Neo.

He had been booked under Section 419 of the IPC and Sections 18 and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and handed over to NIA for interrogation. Police had seized his passport, cellphone and laptop.
