Under the new law any citizen of India can purchase land Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier, only state subjects and those holding domicile certificate were eligible for purchase of land.
However, PDP held a similar protest march in Jammu in protest against what they alleged selling of Jammu.
Large number of PDP senior leaders and other workers had assembled today in party headquarter at S K Park near here raising slogans against new land law and BJP. However, when they stepped out of the main gate of the office to march towards main Residency road in a procession, police personnel deployed there immediately swung into action.

Later, security forces closed all roads leading to PDP office and nobody was being allowed to go there.
Former chief minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti taking to micro blogging site Twitter said “PDP office in Srinagar sealed by J&K admin & workers arrested for organizing a peaceful protest. A similar protest was allowed in Jammu so why was it thwarted here? Is this your definition of ‘normalcy’ that’s being showcased in the world? @PMOIndia @HMOIndia @manojsinha”.
In a series of tweets she said “ Many others like @TahirsyeedK , Yasin Bhat & Hameed Kohsheen also arrested. A government desperate to curb any kind of dissent & ready to crush its own people but all the machismo disappears when it comes to fighting China at the LAC”. “
“PDP’s @parawahid, Khurshid Alam, Rouf Bhat,@MohsinQayoom_ & @buttkout were arrested by J&K police for protesting against the settler colonial land laws thrusted upon people of J&K. We will continue to raise our voice collectively & wont tolerate attempts to change demographics”, she said.
