Police busts brothel, pimp among 3 arrested in Jammu

Jammu, Sep 12 (UNI) Police on Wednesday busted a brothel here on the city outskirts and arrested three persons, including a pimp, on a complaint lodged by an NGO.
“A written complaint was submitted on Tuesday by one Urja Singh, State President of NGO ‘Betiyan Foundation’, Sub Office at Talab Tillo, along with other two lady members - Radika Khajuria and Geeta Thakur at police station Bishnah,” Ramesh Kotwal, SSP Headquarters, here said.
He said the complainants submitted that one Sumaro Devi (48), resident of Chak Bana Fatwal, Tehsil Bishnah, along with her family members, was running a brothel in her house.
“She has kept a number of girls in confinement and used to call clients therein,” he added.
The SSP said that a case under Sections 344 of RPC, 3/4 Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act was registered and investigation started, while during the course of investigation, a raid was conducted in presence of a First Class Magistrate Tehsildar Bishnah and three persons were arrested.
The arrested were identified as Samaroo Devi and Hem Raj, residents of Vijaypur and Govind Ram of Bana Chak Fatwal.
''One teenager girl was also rescued from the same house and more arrests into the case cannot be ruled out,'' he added.
