Police arrest 2 drug peddlers in Sopore

Srinagar, Jul 16 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered psychotropic substance from their possession in Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla, a police spokesperson said on Thursday evening.
He further said police at a checkpoint established at main chowk Sopore intercepted a notorious drug peddler identified as Muneer Ahmad Bulaki alias Munn Bluki resident of Batpora Sopore.
During checking, police recovered 30 bottles of Codeine phosphate from his possession which he was carrying for distribution among youth. He has been arrested, spokesperson said.
Similarly, police from Police Station Tarzoo at a checkpoint established at Railway crossing Seer, intercepted an individual identified as Adil Ashraf Khan, resident of Peth Seer Sopore and recovered 200 tablets of Spasmoproxyvon Plus from his possession. He has been arrested.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and further investigations have been taken up.
Community members were requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling would be dealt as per law. Police has resolved to deal robustly with drug peddlers.
He added that ''our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.''

War against COVID-19: MP’s grim body count rises to 929

Bhopal, Aug 5 (UNI) The fatality figure owing to the ‘millennium scourge’ mounted to 929 on Wednesday in Madhya Pradesh where 17 fresh demises – the maximum five occurred in this district – were reported even as the infected tally touched 35,734 with 652 more sufferers being detected during analysis of 12,318 samples.
A Health Services Directorate bulletin issued tonight pegged the number of active cases at 8,741. Two deaths each were recorded in Indore in Rewa districts; one each in Ratlam, Rajgarh, Jabalpur, Shivpuri, Damoh, Katni, Agar Malwa and Sagar. This district spawned the highest 150 new instances thereby taking its aggregate to 7,115, including 197 dead; 4,658 cured – 186 on this very day. Bhopal also has the dubious distinction of having the highest 2,260 non-passive patients.

MP Minister seeks study of PMAY(U)

Bhopal, Aug 5 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh on Wednesday directed his officers to review the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) and reduce expenditure on the infrastructure development component, it was officially learnt.
“Civic bodies concerned can accomplish infrastructure build-out. First finish those dwellings that are 80 to 90 per cent complete. Amount sanctioned under one head should not be expended for another. Approximately 5.82 lakh Beneficiary-led Individual House Construction/Enhancement abodes were approved in 374 urban bodies. Of these; 1,94,214 are ready,” the senior politician averred at an appraisal meeting.
