Police action on minor students in Tripura: Movement seeking 100pc pass gains ground

Agartala, Aug 4 (UNI) Students movement gains ground in Tripura after police resorted to charge baton on a group of school children in front of the house of education minister Ratan Lal Nath who were agitating against the disparity in the results of Higher Secondary and Madhyamik of Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) and demanded promotion for all.
Like CBSE and other state boards, TBSE has also declared the results of board exams without holding any test but based on the results of the last school examination. Over 80 per cent students were promoted in Madhyamik while the figure is more than 90 per cent in the case of Higher Secondary this year in Tripura.
Besides errors in tabulations, the results of many brilliant students were not satisfactory especially for science stream students of higher secondary in comparison with their results of entrance examinations. However, the state government has made a provision of writing the exam once the Covid situation is over if any candidate wishes or is not satisfied with the previous record based promotion.
