Panchkula, July 20 (UNI) Delivering a strong message against sexual crimes involving children, the Fast Track Special POCSO Court in Panchkula has sentenced a man convicted of raping a 16-year-old girl to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment.
The court also imposed a ₹50,000 fine, with an additional six months of simple imprisonment in case of default. The judgment was pronounced by Additional Sessions Judge Manish Dua, who convicted the accused under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, following a trial backed by scientific evidence and effective prosecution by Panchkula Police.
According to DCP Panchkula Aditi Singh, the case originated on April 12, 2024, when the victim’s mother lodged a complaint at Kalka Police Station reporting her 16-year-old daughter missing.
