Entertainment » OtherPosted at: May 14 2016 9:26PM PMRM demands ST status for MeiteiImphal, May 14 (UNI) People’s Movement for Resurgent Manipur (PMRM) supports the demand for inclusion of Meitei in the Schedule Tribe list of India and so that it will support a mass rally to be taken out on May 22 for the demand of ST for Meitei Community. Khagemba Ningthouja, Publicity Secretary said Indian Constitution is now protecting the high class Meitei race in terms of human rights violations and indiscrimination. For those communities included in the ST list, various laws are passed to protect and safeguard the communities. He said a mere population of 7.5 lakhs Meitei population need a special provision if we need to survive among 125 crore Indian population.
