PM to visit vaccine Manufacturing facility BBIL today

Hyderabad, Nov 28 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the vaccine manufacturing facility of Bharat Biotech International Limited (BBIL) on Saturday afternoon, located at Genome valley in Shamirpet on the city outskirts.
BBIL is engaged in the manufacturing of vaccine 'Covaxin' for COVID-19.
PMO India tweeted yesterday PM @narendramodi will embark on a 3 city visit to personally review the vaccine development & manufacturing process. He will visit the Zydus Biotech Park in Ahmedabad, Bharat Biotech in Hyderabad & Serum Institute of India in Pune.
As India enters a decisive phase of the fight against COVID-19, PM @narendramodi ’s visit to these facilities & discussions with the scientists will help him get a first hand perspective of the preparations, challenges & roadmap in India’s endeavour to vaccinate its citizens, It added.
Mr Modi is scheduled to arrive at Hakimpet Air Force station by a special IAF Aircraft at 1255 hours.
He will be received by Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy, Medchal Collector Swetha Mohanty, Cyberabad Commissioner of Police V C Sajjanar and Hakimpet Airforce Commandant.
Normally Governor and Chief Minister will receive the Prime Minister. However, the Prime Minister's Office had permitted only five officials to welcome Mr Modi and not included Ms Tamilsai Soundararajan and Mr K Chandrashekar Rao in the list, Reports said.
Mr Modi is scheduled to leave for the BBIL by road after his arrival at Hakimpet Air Force Station.
After his visit to the facility and interaction with the Scientists and others concerned, Mr. Modi would return to Hakimpet Air Force Station and fly to Delhi.
Bharat Biotech is developing COVID-19 vaccine 'Covaxin' in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Phase III clinical trials of the vaccine candidate had commenced recently.
