Ghazipur/Varanasi, Dec 29 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his parliamentary constituency Varanasi on Saturday to gift more projects on the New Year eve besides an early start to the campaign for next year’s Lok Sabha elections.
However, before his arrival, the PM will have to face rebellion by the alliance partners Suheldeo Bharatiya Samaj Party(SBSP) and Apna Dal (Sonelal), who had announced to boycott the functions.
The PM will lay foundation and inaugurate projects worth over Rs 499 crore, which include a new medical college in Ghazipur, at a cost of Rs 220 crore.
Before reaching Varanasi, Mr Modi will go to Ghazipur, where he will release a commemorative postage stamp on Maharaja Suheldeo and address a public rally at ITI ground.
The PM’s rally in Ghazipur is being seen as an effort by the BJP to woo the Rajbhar community, which revers Maharaja Suheldo.
In Varanasi, he will attend the ‘one district, one product’ regional summit at the Deendayal Hastakala Sankul (Trade Facilitation Centre & Crafts Museum), and participate in programmes involving beneficiaries of several central and state government schemes. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and South Asia Regional Centre (ISARC) on the campus of the National Seed Research and Training Centre (NSRTC) in Varanasi.
He will return to New Delhi in the evening.
