PM to inaugurate Submarine Optical Fibre from Chennai to Andaman & Nicobar on Monday

New Delhi, Aug 9 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Monday inaugurate Submarine Optical Fibre from Chennai to Andaman & Nicobar to enable high speed broadband & boost mobile services in the islands.

The 2312-Km under-sea Submarine Optical Fibre project from Chennai to Andaman & Nicobar, will be executed by BSNL.

BSNL said in a statement here on Sunday that the 2312 km long project will make all types of telecommunication services in Andaman and Nicobar and its surrounding islands easy and fast.

4G services will also be available for mobile. Apart from this, the internet speed will be much higher than before. The laying of the cable within the sea from Chennai to Part Blair has cost about Rs 1225 crore.

Mr Modi will inaugurate it tomorrow and Minister of Communications, Electronics and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad will also address the event.
