Varanasi, Sep 18(UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay foundation stone for several projects on Tuesday for the temple city and address a public meeting at the BHU before leaving for New Delhi.
On the first day of his two-day visit, on Monday night, Mr Modi made a sudden inspection of Manduadih railway station in his parliamentary constituency, surprising the railway authorities who went berserk to make the arrangement on the last moment.
While the PM along with UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath and UP BJP president Mahendra Nath Pandey visited the railway station, recently upgraded with several facilities, his supporters chanted 'Modi-Modi' on his 68th birthday.
Railway officials said here on Tuesday that the PM's convoy reached Manduadih station at around 2200 hours and went through the station and the platforms.
He also took the escalator, recently fixed, to visit the platforms.
During his around 20 minutes stay in which he also enquired from the railway authorities about the passengers amenities at the station, the PM directed the railways to prepare themselves for the coming Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas and the Kumbh Mela at Allahabad to provide all facilities to the passengers.
Earlier on Monday late afternoon, after he reached Varanasi, the PM celebrated his birthday with the children and later worshipped at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
