PM to address election rallies in MP, Chhattisgarh on Friday

PM to address election rallies in MP, Chhattisgarh on Friday

New Delhi, Nov 16 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake tour of poll-bound Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and address election rallies on Friday.
According to BJP sources, the Prime Minister will address poll rallies - one each - at Shahdol and Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, where Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP ministry is facing a stiff anti-incumbency wave.
The saffron party is in power in the central Indian state since 2003 while Chief Minister Chouhan is at the helm of affairs since November 2005.
Prime Minister Modi took to micro-blogging site in the morning to share his thoughts about the election rallies to be addressed on Friday.
"Will be addressing rallies at Shahdol and Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh later today. I would be talking about the extensive work done by BJP in Madhya Pradesh over the last 15 years and will request the people to bless us once again," Mr Modi wrote.
In another missive, the Prime Minister said: "Today, (I) will address a public meeting in Chhattisgarh’s Ambikapur. Looking forward to being among the wonderful people of Chhattisgarh".
The first phase of polling in Chhattisgarh was held on November 12 while the second and final phase of voting for remaining 72 seats will take place on November 20.
Madhya Pradesh goes to the polls on November 28.
"The rallies are well planned and have their own significance," a local BJP leader said here, adding political pitch is certainly high at Gwalior - considered to be a bastion of Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia.
However, in 2013, effectively during the height of Mr Modi's popularity, the BJP had bagged 11 seats of the 16 in the Gwalior-Bhind region.
"We are set to repeat the success of 2013 in this region," said a party worked enthusiastically and maintained that once PM Modi starts campaigning in the state, the perceived anti-incumbency mood will also fade away.
After setting his feet in the electoral dust and heat in Scindia 'fiefdom' on Friday, the Prime Minister will visit Chhindwara on November 18.
Chhindwara is a known bastion of former Union Minister and Congress heavyweight Kamal Nath.
According to party sources, Mr Modi will address rally in Indore on Sunday (November 18) and between November 20 and 25, there will be a series of election rallies in Rewa, Jhabua, Mandsaur and Chhatarpur.
On November 25, a day before the campaigning ends, Mr Modi will address rallies in politically crucial Vidisha and Jabalpur.
