New Delhi, Feb 17 (UNI) Holding Prime Minister Narendra Modi directly responsible for the Rs 22000 cr PNB scam and "destroying" the financial system of the country, Congress president Rahul Gandhi and the newly formed steering committee of the Congress on Saturday alleged that 'higher ups' in the government had prior knowledge of it and demanded that the PM apprise the Nation of the facts about the scam and the steps being taken by his government to restore the faith of the people in the banking system .
They also said the fraud has exposed the ‘Culture of Crony Capitalism’ that has thrived and flourished under the watch of the Modi Government.
Talking to reporters after a meeting of the steering committee, formed by him on Friday after dissolving the Congress working committee, to decide on the plenary session of the AICC, Mr Gandhi said,'former finance minister P Chidambaram has told me that facts emerging in the scam show that the scam of such magnitude could not have happened without the knowledge of higher-ups in the government.
