PM scared of disclosing names of PM Cares' donors: Rahul

New Delhi, Jul 11 (UNI) Continuing his attack on the Narendra Modi government over lack of transparency in the PM CARES fund, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday alleged that Chinese companies have given money to the fund.
"Why is PM so scared of disclosing the names of those who donated money to him for PM Cares? Everyone knows Chinese companies Huawei, Xiaomi, TikTok and One Plus gave money. Why doesn't he share the details?,' the former AICC President posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
Mr Gandhi also posted a news report on his official Twitter handle, which said that members of the ruling BJP on Friday stalled a proposal at the meeting of the PAC to examine the government's handling of the Coronavirus crisis.
The report said that BJP, which enjoys a majority in PAC, blocked a proposal by PAC Chairman Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury to select the PM CARES Fund for examination, saying that it's funding was not sanctioned by Parliament and therefore, it cannot be taken up by the committee.
Mr Gandhi has been regularly attacking the NDA government on the lack of transparency in the PM CARES fund.
On Wednesday also, he had posted on his Twitter account a news report, which alleged that the ventilator manufacturer that was funded by the PM Cares used a software to 'fudge' its 'substandard ventilators' and invoked the 'BJPfailsCoronaFight' hashtag to attack the Modi government.
'PMCares opacity is: 1. Putting Indian lives at risk. 2. Ensuring public money is used to buy sub-standard products (sic),' he had tweeted then.
The Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM -CARES Fund) has been set up following the COVID-19 pandemic in India, to undertake and support relief or assistance of any kind relating to a public health emergency or any other kind of emergency, calamity or distress.
The opposition parties have been alleging that PM-CARES Fund has received donations from Chinese companies.
