Imphal, Jan 4 (UNI) “New Delhi will be in the doorstep of every household,” Prime Minister Narendra
Modi today assured during a public meeting held here today to inaugurate eight projects and lay
foundation stones for four projects in Manipur.
Addressing a packed Hapta Kangjeibung ground at Imphal East in the afternoon, Narendra Modi charmed the crowd by greetings in Manipuri with his head adorned with the headgear of famous Manipur King Bhagyachandra.
Prime Minister said, he was delighted to see the trend of oneness and unity enveloping the nation as he tours the nation. During his tenure as Prime Minister, he has visited the North East 30 times, he said.
Mr Modi, who in his last visit inaugurated the Science Congress at Manipur University last year said the nation is seeing development, after the opening of the Eastern Gate and unfurling of the tricolour for the first time on Indian soil at Moirang of Manipur. He paid tributes to the freedom fighter of the region who helped the INA and the women freedom fighters for their sacrifice.
The projects which were launched today and which will be started will cost about Rs 15,000 crore and will ease life of all specially, children, farmers, he said. The style of functioning of previous government made people think New Delhi is far off but now the government will work in such a way that people will feel that New Delhi is in their doorstep, he added.
Working in the footsteps of Atal Behari Vajpayee, the government has succeeded in providing electricity to all the census village the last being Leishang of Kangpokpi district of Manipur, he added.
