PM Modi welcomes Bhutan King, says India committed to advancing enduring bilateral partnership

New Delhi, Dec 5 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel and Queen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck and said India remains committed to advancing the enduring partnership between the two nations.
In a post on X, the PM said he admires the Bhutan King’s vision for Bhutan’s progress and regional development.
“Delighted to welcome Their Majesties, the King and Queen of Bhutan, to India. Admire His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck’s vision for Bhutan’s progress and regional development. We remain committed to advancing the unique and enduring partnership between India and Bhutan.”
PM Modi and the Bhutan King met at the PM’s 7, Lok Kalyan Marg official residence.
Earlier, the Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel was warmly welcomed by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar as they arrived on a two-day visit.
The EAM said in a post on X:
“Honoured to welcome His Majesty the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, on his arrival in New Delhi today.
“His visit will further strengthen our unique bonds of friendship.”
Later today EAM Jaishankar and senior officials of the Government of India are to call on the King of Bhutan at the Hotel Taj Palace.
The King departs on Friday morning.
India and Bhutan enjoy unique ties of friendship and cooperation, which are characterized by mutual understanding and trust. The visit shall provide both sides an opportunity to review the entire gamut of bilateral cooperation and to further advance the exemplary bilateral partnership across diverse sectors, a statement said.
