PM Modi expected to visit China for SCO Summit, in another thaw in bilateral ties

New Delhi, Aug 6 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit China to attend the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, to be held in Tianjin, from August 31 to September 1.
PM Modi’s visit to China to attend the 25th Heads of State Council meeting of the SCO, would mark another step towards the normalization of ties between the two nations since the two sides agreed on disengagement between their troops along the boundary following the Kazan meeting in October 2024.
PM Modi had last visited China in 2019. However, his meeting with President Xi Jinping in Kazan, on the sidelines of the 16th BRICS Summit in October last year, had marked the first major step in the thawing of ties, which had soured majorly following the 2020 bloody Galwan border clash.
