PM Modi, Bhutan King jointly inaugurate 1020 MW Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project

Thimphu, Nov 11 (UNI) The 1020 MW Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project, a landmark joint venture between India and Bhutan, was inaugurated jointly today by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, underlining the strong energy partnership between the two neighbours.
Located on the Punatsangchhu River in Bhutan's Wangdue Phodrang district, it is a run-of-the-river power plant, and comprises six units of 170 MW each.
The project will increase Bhutan's hydropower generation capacity by 40%, solidifying its position as a clean energy hub.
