Davos, Jan 22 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived here on Monday
in this Swiss Alpine resort to attend the annual meeting of 48th World Economic Forum.
Mr Modi is the first Prime Minister in the last two decades to attend the meet. In 1997, the then Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda had graced the prestigious meet of the top business honchos and nation heads.
Prime Minister Modi will deliver the keynote address at the opening session on Tuesday. The session will be moderated by Prof Klaus Schwab, the Founder and Executive Chairman of World Economic Forum.
The theme of this year's summit is 'Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World'. Yoga sessions and exquisite Indian cuisine are all set to make a big splash during the meet. Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan is here to receive an honour at the Annual Crystal Awards,
According to MEA officials, Prime Minister will hold bilateral talks with the President of Swiss Confederation, Alain Berset. The Indian presence in this year's mega event is set to be the largest ever with as
many as six Union ministers including Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu, two chief ministers Chandrababu Naidu of Andhra Pradesh and Devendra Fadnavis of Maharashtra in line to attend and participate in various deliberations.
At the summit, India is expected to narrate its growth story and also various reforms undertaken by the Modi-led regime during last three-and-half years to make the country more business friendly.
The event will be attended by over 3,000 global leaders from business, government, politics, academia and social sectors.
