New Delhi, Jan 24 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday greeted the people of Uttar Pradesh on their Statehood Day.
Taking to twitter, the Prime Minister said, “Heartiest greetings to all the people of Uttar Pradesh on the foundation day. This state, a sacred land of sacrifice, tenancy, tradition and culture, is playing an important role in making India self-reliant. I wish the State to continue to achieve new heights leading to all round development, he added in his tweet message."
With roughly 200 million inhabitants, the state of Uttar Pradesh is one among the largest state of the country. It was created on April 1,1937 as the United Provinces of Agra and Oudh during British rule, and was renamed Uttar Pradesh in 1950, giving it the acronym UP.
