New Delhi, Jan 22 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday greeted people on the occasion of Basant Panchami.
"My greetings on Basant Panchami. I pray that this auspicious occasion makes our society happier and even more harmonious," Mr Modi wrote in a tweet.
He said the blessings of Goddess Saraswati, the deity of Learning, should always remain with the people and "bestow us with wisdom".
The students in eastern India mainly consider this day auspicious and dedicate the day to Goddess Saraswati, offer prayers and seek her blessings for learning and education.
Several cultural programmes are also organised in schools and institutes of Learning.
