New Delhi, July 23 (UNI) Charging Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman with misleading Parliament on the deal for Rafale fighter jets, the Congress on Monday alleged that there
is a huge scam in the deal.
Addressing a joint press conference, senior Congress leader and former Defence Minister A K Antony, AICC senior spokesperson Anand Sharma and AICC media incharge Randeep Surjewala said,'Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman lied on the Floor of Parliament by saying that the secrecy agreement between India and France did not allow the revelation of the commercial price of the Rafale fighter jets. However, the fact is that neither the revelation of the ‘commercial cost’ of Rafale aircraft will
violate any secrecy agreement nor will it reveal any 'Classified or Protected information'.'
Describing it as a clear cut case of breach of privilege, Mr Sharma said,'this is a clear case of the PM and the Defence Minister misleading the nation. However, leaders of the Congress in the Lok Sabha will take a call in this regard.'
Alleging a massive scam in the deal for Rafale fighter aircraft, Mr Sharma said,'On July 20, during the discussion of the No confidence motion against his government in Parliament, the PM sought to hide behind a cloak of ‘pseudo nationalism’ in the Rafale deal. The truth, however, is that the Modi Government is unforgivably guilty of compromising ‘National interest’ and ‘National security’ in the Rafale deal.
'It is definitely a scam as it raises the question of a violation of procedure. This has never happened in the post Independence history of India.’’
