New Delhi, Jan 21 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed grief over the loss of lives in a fire at the Serum Institute of India complex, the makers of Covid vaccine, in Pune.
In a tweet, Mr Modi said, "Anguished by the loss of lives due to an unfortunate fire at the @SerumInstIndia. In this sad hour, my thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives. I pray that those injured recover at the earliest."
Five charred bodies were recovered by NDRF team after a massive fire broke out at the Serum Institute of India complex in Pune.
SII is manufacturing the Covishield vaccine, in collaboration with Oxford University and AstraZeneca, which has been approved for emergency use by the drug regulator of India.
After the news of death came to light, Adar Poonawalla, Chief Executive Officer of SII, offered his condolences to the bereaved families in a tweet.
