Playing catalyst was a very different 'avatar' for me: Shilpa Shetty on 'Hear Me Love Me'

New Delhi, Sep 18 (UNI) Actress Shilpa Shetty who will be seen playing a catalyst in Amazon Prime Video's upcoming series 'Hear Me. Love Me', says for her this is a very different 'avatar'.

In a group interview here, Shilpa said it was the concept that attracted her to the show.

'For me to make my foray into this OTT platform, I wanted people who understood this medium well, and Amazon Prime is on the top of their game. They are very content driven. For me it was a very different 'avatar', trying to play catalyst to the millennials. This generation really has work cut out for them. They are very clear, so it gave me an insight into who we are dealing with now,' Shilpa said.

Talking about the concept of the show, Shilpa said it's beauty lies in the fact that it really gives a woman an upper hand, it gives her a choice of three boys.

'But the twist is you get to see their world, you get to know them, hear them, via the show and then they have to choose one boy, without seeing them. So it's more insightful then sightful. As a show it works in terms of entertainment, because who doesn't love reality today,' she said.

'Hear Me. Love Me. is a fun new take on blind dating and it's quite exciting to see younger generation’s take on romance and relationships. It is edgy and bold and I have tried my best to provide the contestants with the most honest advice possible,' she said.

Describing her journey in Bollywood, Shilpa said,'I haven't counted the years that have gone by. I have just lived life. I can't believe the retrospect that lasted so long in part of this milieu for so many years.'

'To stay in the industry during this time is a bigger feet for me than lasting out in the industry for so long. To try and do different stuff, I transcended from the big screen to the small screen. Transitioning on the OTT platform, doing something on radio. For me I enjoy this,' she said.

'I always steered towards doing work that were trendsetting. I never bothered about being the first one on TV judging a dance reality show. I prefer to be on TV right now, because the onus is not on my shoulders that I have to give a superhit film,' the 'Baazigar' fame actress said.

'For me now it's my passion to bring awareness in health and wellness scenario. So I am trying to leverage my name and all that I have earned and give it back to people, because I feel their is certain apathy when it comes to health,' she said.

On her views on 'love at first sight', Shilpa said,'I don't think love at first sight happens. Love is something deep in which a lot has to be invested. At first sight we just like somebody, his/her features, but that is not love. For me there is like/lust at first sight. But love is an emotion that develops with time.'

Asking about the kind of content she will say yes for her comeback on the silver screen, the 43-year-old actress said,'People have evolved. Mindsets have changed, films have changed, content has changed. So it has been a welcome change. I will choose an age appropriate character. I don't want a female oriented script.'

'I am not somebody who wants to do college going girl. Films have changed. I want stuff that cater to today's palette. I am an avid film watcher. So I would do something that I enjoy watching as well. I have played almost all the characters in my life, so it would be really difficult for me to say yes to a particular role,' she added.

'Hear Me. Love Me' challenges the very notion of ‘love at first sight’, the Prime Original reality series brings to life a virtual blind dating experience that combines technology and human interaction in a unique new format.

Shilpa Shetty Kundra, dons the role of a relationship guide and confidante as she helps contestants navigate through the mores of romance in today’s digital age.

The show entails young women between 21-32 years of age, with diverse aspirations and from different walks of life, making an attempt to find love and companionship.

Every episode has one single woman making an acquaintance with three guys, ‘virtually’, without ever leaving her room. The bachelors wear a mini camera on their chest sharing their lives, but never revealing their faces, thereby eliminating looks as a deciding factor.

Produced by Fremantle, India, 'Hear Me. Love Me.' is a 10-episode series, set to launch as a binge-watch on September 28 on Amazon Prime Video.
