Places of worship to open in UT from Jun 8 : CM

Puducherry, Jun 6 (UNI) With all places of worship being opened in the Union Territory from June 8, certain guidelines have been announced, Chief Minister V Narayanasamy said on Saturday.

In an audio clip sent to the media here, the Chief Minister said in temples, devotees should wear masks, maintain social distancing and sanitize their hands.

No prasadam or water to drink should be provided to the devotees and they should not touch anything inside the temple.

The devotees should stand in queue maintaining social distancing,bow before the deity and leave. After the devotees left, the entire area need to be sanitized, he added.

This is applicable to Churches and Mosques and in case of crown on Sundays in church and Fridays in mosques, people should be allowed to worship standing outside. If social distancing was not adopted, stringent action will be initiated, he cautioned.

Mr Narayanasamy said that he along with Minister Shajahan, Chief Secretary and other officials convened a meeting of the leaders of all religions here in which they agreed to follow the guidelines given by the government.

People could eat in the hotels itself from June 8 by maintaining social distancing. For lodges, they should collect the entire details of the people who check in and in case of any old people getting sick, it should be informed to the government.

To the maximum extent possible e-wallet be used for making payments, the Chief Minister said.
