Piramal Foundation launches first Art Residency Programme

Mumbai, Dec 19 (UNI) The Piramal Art Foundation today launched its First Art Residency Programme at Piramal Vaikunth in Thane, near here.
As part of the Piramal Art Foundation’s initiative, the Art Residency programme focuses on the need to build nurturing studio spaces for visual artists to come and practice their art.
The initial two days of the launch will feature a round table session with curators, artists, writers, other residency directors, and gallerists.
An interactive session would include a mixture of artists from Baroda and Mumbai, which would allow artists to present their work and learn about the idea of residencies through presentations by residency organisers, curators, educators, Dr Swati Piramal, vice chairperson, Piramal Enterprises, said on the occasion.
Through the art residency programme, infrastructure in the visual arts would be created for young and experienced artists, gallerists, educators and curators to come together at one place, exchange knowledge and create masterpieces.
Over time, the programme hopes to build a network of practising artists from all over India who can contribute their time, talent and resources to increase the presence of high quality art in the country. she added.
