Pinarayi Vijayan to lead Opposition: CPM finalises leadership hours after CM declaration

Thiruvananthapuram, May 15 (UNI) In a major political development in Kerala, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Communist Party of India (Marxist) has decided to field former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan as the Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Legislative Assembly.
The decision comes hours after the announcement of the new Chief Minister, marking a swift reshaping of the state’s political leadership landscape.
The decision was taken at the CPM state committee meeting, with the leadership concluding that Pinarayi Vijayan—who served as Chief Minister for ten years—should return to the Assembly as Opposition Leader following the LDF’s heavy electoral setback.
