PIB Imphal Holds “Vartalap” Workshop to Bridge Gap Between Government and Media

Imphal, Nov 13 (UNI) The Press Information Bureau (PIB), Imphal, organised a one-day media workshop, “Vartalap”, on Thursday to enhance awareness among local journalists about various Central government schemes and policies being implemented in Manipur. The programme, held at the Sangai Hall of Hotel Imphal, formed part of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s media outreach initiative aimed at fostering a closer interface between the government and the public through the media.
The workshop brought together over 40 journalists from different media houses across the state. The event commenced with the collective singing of Vande Mataram and was graced by Director of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Government of Manipur, Ngangom Uttam Singh, as the chief guest. Dr. Engam Pame, IIS, Director of PIB Imphal, presided over the function, while Asem Bhakta Singh, President of the All Manipur Working Journalists’ union (AMWJU), and Yumnam Rupachandra Singh, General Secretary of the Editors’ Guild Manipur, attended as guests of honour.
Uttam Singh lauded PIB Imphal for organising the workshop, describing it as an effective platform for dialogue between the media and the government. He emphasised that journalists must possess in-depth knowledge of government schemes and policies to ensure accurate dissemination of information at the grassroots. “Misinformation and incomplete information are dangerous,” he cautioned, urging media professionals to uphold their role as facilitators of truth and transparency.
