Photo voter slip will not be permissible as identity card: UP Chief Election Officer

Lucknow, Mar 15 (UNI) Due to complaints of misuse of photo voter slip, it was decided by Election Commission that it will not be permissible as identity document.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Election Officer L Venkateshwarlu here on Friday said that photo voter slip will not be acceptable as identity of voter. Though it will be released and distributed as an attempt to spread awareness among voters. He said that voters must carry an alternative document prescribed by Election Commission as their identity proof along with voter identity card.

He said alternate identity card may be passport, driving license, identity card of government employees, passbook issued by bank and post offices, PAN cards, MNREGA job card, Aadhar card and cards issued to MPs, MLAs and MLCs.
