Philippines Rice Research Centre to set up satellite-based innovation centre in AP

Amaravati, Mar 2 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asked the officials of International Rice Research centre, Philippines, to submit a scientific report to produce quality paddy with low production cost.
The International rice research centre team led by IRRC Director General Dr. Matew Morell, representative South Asia Nafees Meah, Outcome theme leader Arvind Kumar, Scientist Vikas Kumar Singh, Consultant Aldas Janaiah and senior associate Rubina Nishat led by Minister for Agriculture Somiredddy Chandramohan Reddy met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the Secretariat here on Friday.
Interacting with them, the Chief Minister said Andhra Pradesh stands as rice bowl of India and the state achieved highest growth rate in agriculture and allied sectors.
He said that he wants to develop AP as best agricultural hub. He asked them to present a report to set up an innovation centre in AP to provide value addition to the produce of agriculture sector.
The IRRC Director General Mathew Morell said they are ready to set up a satellite-based international innovation centre in AP. He said a sub-centre was present in Varanasi.
Minister for Agriculture Chandramohan Reddy explained to the Chief Minister about necessary infrastructure to set up innovation centre. NG Agricultural University Vice-chancellor Damodar Naidu, Director of research NV Naidu, Commissioner of Agriculture Hari Jawaharlal were present.

Mysuru, Dec 19(UNI) The condition of a few patients, who were admitted on Friday last following food poison in the prasad served in a temple in Chamarajanagara district continues to be serious and hospitals here are treating around 90 patients with some of them still on ventilator support and in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
