Philippines : Ex-navy chief says Chinese takeover of commercial shipyard 'threat' to national security

Manila, Jan 15 (UNI) Expressing concern over China's interest in purchasing the Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction Philippines shipyards in Subic, former Navy chief Vice Adm Alexander Pama has said that the acquisition of the shipyards will pose a threat to the national security.
A former Philippine Navy chief has sounded the alarm over the security and strategic implications on the prospect of a Chinese takeover of a commercial shipyard in Subic.
Former Philippines Navy Chief Vice Adm. Alexander Pama raised alarm and wrote on Facebook “This is a very significant national security issue! The ownership of Hanjin shipyard in Subic bay will give the owners unlimited access to one of our most strategic geographic Naval and Maritime asset,” he said.
